Literacy/English
The Victorian Curriculum places the teaching of English under three modes; Reading and Viewing, Writing and Speaking, and Listening.
At Mortlake P-12 College, we undertake data informed, best practice approaches to teaching all of these areas, ensuring students are taught the curriculum in a meaningful way that is specific to their needs.
VCE English focuses on how English language is used to create meaning in written, spoken and visual texts. We study a range of texts, including a fictional novel, a play, a memoir and a film.
The importance of VCE English:
- VCE English helps you to write words, sentences, paragraphs and extended pieces well.
- This will help you in all your other subjects.
- It will also help you develop Literacy skills for numerous pathways, including university, TAFE and employment.
